Leave a Legacy

The mission of the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation is to inspire, engage, and motivate the community, including philanthropic partners, businesses, families, and former and current staff and students in the support of Milwaukee Public Schools and the academic achievement of its students.

Our vision is to ensure every Milwaukee Public Schools student will recieve the support needed to achieve his or her full potential.

The Milwaukee Public School District is the largest school district in Wisconsin, educating 76,856 students at 159 neighborhood, speciality, and charter schools in the 2016-2017 school year.  88% are students of color; 80% are economically disadvantaged; and 20% have special needs.

The MPS Foundation is poised to create long-lasting partnerships and collaborations between businesses, nonprofits, communities of faith, other foundations, and the school district.  in 2016 we increased our contributions by 39%, ending the year with assets in excess of $1,700,000.

How Your Support Will Leave a Legacy

Contributions are greatly appreciated and will be used to directly benefit Milwaukee Public Schools – the students, staff, and programs. Donors may direct gifts to the MPS Foundation to support a variety of ongoing programs and/or specify the gift to help ensure funding long into the future.

Donors may choose to designate a gift to match personal giving preferences. Here are specific ways you can help make a difference for MPS students, staff, and schools:

MPS Fund

Donations to the MPS Fund support a variety of projects in Milwaukee Public Schools. The MPS Foundation Board of Directors, working in collaboration with Milwaukee Public Schools leadership, has identified district needs and raises funds to support initiatives that help move MPS students forward.

The MPS Foundation manages a robust scholarship program that matches outstanding students with significant financial need to a number of unique scholarship opportunities.  This year, the Foundation awarded more than $60,000 in scholarship funds to MPS graduates.  Many of our scholarship programs accept donations; there are also opportunities to create new scholarship funds.

Restricted or Designated Funds

Donors may choose to direct a gift to one or more of the Restricted or Designated Funds established by the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation.  Gifts of any amount may be designated to support any Milwaukee Public School or program.

Planned Giving

The MPS Foundation would also like to provide opportunities for planned giving, such as a will or listing the MPS Foundation as a beneficiary of an insurance policy. Contact MPS Foundation staff to discuss Leave a Legacy options.
