Help launch the next generation of STEM heroes

hidden figures

Thanks to the generous support of a group of African-American community leaders, more than 10,000 MPS students will have the opportunity to attend a screening of Hidden Figures, the hit movie that tells the incredible story of three brilliant African-American women working at NASA during the 1960s.  These “human computers” were the brains behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and they bravely crossed all gender and race lines to achieve their goals.
From the earliest days of NASA, its most stunning accomplishments have been built on the behind-the-scenes work of unsung heroes.  These engineers, mathematicians, and technology experts made it possible for the United States to explore unknown frontiers and to touch the stars.
The MPS Foundation is raising funds in support of this very special project.  Gifts will help provide transportation, a film screening, and pre- and post-trip curricular materials for students in Milwaukee Public Schools.
