Teacher EXCEL Grants for MPS Teachers
Grants up to $750 each awarded to MPS teachers to fund creative classroom projects to enrich student learning. 47 grants were awarded in 2009-10 and 71 teachers were honored at a reception and awards program held on December 2, 2009.
The Teacher EXCEL Grant program is supported by generous donations of MPS employees through the annual Employee Combined Giving Campaign. It is also supported by contributions made in memory of Ann Shansky, who was an elementary teacher in MPS for 34 years.

Grant awarded to support the MPS Homeless Education Program. Funding was made possible through a donation from the Help Them Group, Inc., DBA VIBHA designated for this purpose.

Milwaukee Public Schools Dental Program (2-6-09)
Grant awarded to support the MPS Dental Program, which provides dental health services for low income, eligible students. The program helps contribute to healthier children making them more receptive to learning. Funding was made possible through generous donations from the Tellier Foundation.

Incentive grants of $250 each were awarded to 19 schools and one award was presented to the MPS Department of Special Services Career Assessment and Training Program for their improved record of giving in the 2008-2009 MPS Employees' Combined Giving Campaign. The schools include:
